    Why is the material being considered? What is the source of the rationale?

  2. 02HUMAN EVIDENCE

    What has actually been shown in humans, and what remains preclinical or theoretical?

  3. 03MATERIAL IDENTITY

    What exact species, part, strain or source, process and analytical specification are being discussed?

  4. 04TIMING

    In which phase, if any, does the material belong?

  5. 05COMPATIBILITY

    What does it interact with inside the protocol?

  6. 06REGULATORY

    Is the exact material lawful for the intended market and use?

  7. 07REPRODUCIBILITY

    Can cultivation or sourcing, manufacturing and testing produce a consistent material?

  8. 08NECESSITY

    If the material is removed, does the protocol materially lose its purpose?

If Gate 08 is no, the material does not belong in the protocol.
